Yangshan Port Phase III Backfill Compaction Using Rapid Impact Compactor (2008)

Yangshan Port is located in  Shengsi County, Zhejiang Province,  consisting of  Dayang Mountain Port Area and  Xiaoyang Mountain Port Area.  With  4,900 meters of developable deep-water shoreline,  it serves as the  deep-water port area of Shanghai International Shipping Center.

Treatment Solution: During  Phase III of Yangshan Port in 2008,  the backfill material was primarily  marine sand.  The treatment mainly focused on the  pipeline areas,  with a maximum treatment depth of  3.8 meters.  HC36 equipment was employed, achieving  significant compaction results  that met the design requirement of  95% compaction density.  During the treatment process,  noticeable vibrations were felt on the pipe walls at 3.8m depth,  but the pipe joints remained  intact  without any  misalignment.
